Could anyone send me the pdfs of the 2 workshops? I can't get them to download from the site. My email is: smurph@harmonyhighschool.net

Also, what age groups do you think this is appropriate for?

Thanks for your help!

I think that's the point. The reality for most people living in Haiti (especially true after the earthquake) is that it is extremely hard to survive in Haiti. I don't think they want to be completely fatalistic, but this is teaching a very important message; hard work does not automatically translate into success in Haiti. My students clearly learned this from the game.

FYI - the life expectancy is 62 years old (2011 estimate), which is 182/222 countries in the world. CIA Factbook.

That's correct - the family can prosper. Please let us know how it goes!

i'm working on a way to use this somehow in my science curriculum... students could keep data about what they did and what the results were. i've only played once and just want to make sure that death and debt are not inevitable. i thought i made some good choices, i died. but they can prosper, right?

Is there an option somewhere in the game to start a people's revolution?

If youth are playing the game and keep finding everyone dying or getting in debt, it's important to tell them that neither is inevitable in the game. They need to learn from where things have gone badly and try something different when they play again.
